Our Culture

At Carat we work on the principles of People, Value and Growth. Without focussing on our people we can’t expect to drive value or growth for ourselves or our clients. And ensuring we have the best culture in the industry means we can hire and retain the best people.

From initiatives such as our School of You Scholarship (where we offer £1,000 a quarter to staff to take non-work related courses, such as brewing and comic book writing) to our annual Sports Day we are dedicated to creating a fun and energetic culture where people feel welcomed, happy, creative and fulfilled.

We look to make staff feel healthier, smarter and more productive by holding a number of events offering advice on everything from improving work/life balance to learning new technologies and even helping youngsters get into careers in Media.

Last year saw us hosting Arianna Huffington, who came into the agency to talk about the Third Metric and improving work-life balance as well as holding Wellness Month – a whole month of fun and educational sessions, ranging from Yoga, Pilates and Self Defence to Zumba and Pole Dancing designed to keep staff feeling, healthy, active and energetic.

To generate some gentle inter-agency competition (always a good thing) we hold regular ‘dress your desk’ competitions where the whole agency was challenged with turning the office into a celebration of both the World Cup and, later in the year, Halloween – including a full zombie apocalypse and a rendition of Michael Jackson’s Thriller.

To make a difference in the community we hold regular Discover Media events where Carat staff can volunteer to help mentor GCSE and A-Level students from a local school giving them the chance to win a year-long apprenticeship in the agency.

And for those that want to have a few drinks and socialise, we hold monthly “Thirstday” all staff nights out.

And finally, being the only agency in London to have its own theatre group, we put on regular productions in a local theatre, all of which sell out. The Carat Players have performed Sweeney Todd, Romeo and Juliet, No Sex Please We’re British and most recently Death by Design by Rob Urbinati.
