COVID Commentary - Early jabs for Gayle While at dentsu

Industry figures are leading the way in getting vaccinated against COVID-19, many of them announcing the occasion of double vax via social media. AdNews asked them about their motivation and experiences.

Gayle While (who left the UK in July for Sydney) is dentsu's Chief Digital Officer:

The UK’s strategy was to vaccinate their way back to normal. Over there the numbers were so high at the start of the year that the majority of people were desperate to be vaccinated for their own health, and to protect those they love.

To help, I volunteered at vaccination centres at weekends. I felt I had to play my part (as small as it was) in helping the country move forward.

It also got me out of the house which was so important for my mental health during months of lockdown. It was amazing to experience the pride, bravery, resilience and sense of community of people from all walks of life, as they came forward to play their part in opening up the country and get vaccinated. Every person left a little more hopeful that the end of lockdowns and separation was in sight.

Volunteering meant that I was vaccinated early, and so fortunately I’ve been double vaccinated with AZ since April.

With vaccination numbers growing in Australia, I’m hoping that being vaccinated will mean that I’ll soon be able to catch up with friends I’ve missed, have a glass (or two) of wine in my favourite places, and, get to the dentsu office.

Yes, I’m one of the people who can’t wait to get back to the office. I’m desperate to meet my new colleagues and clients face to face rather than over screens.
