Our Leadership Team
Jo was appointed CEO of Carat UK in May 2018. Jo joins us from Dentsu Aegis Network's Fetch, where as MD, she was credited with delivering on the mobile-first roadmap and doubling revenues in the first two years of her tenure. The mobile agency also picked up clients including The Telegraph Media Group and Yolt.
Since joining Dentsu Aegis Network in 1999, Jo has had an impressive track record of senior leadership roles within the group, most recently at Fetch, but prior to that, here at Carat, as Group Communications Director before moving to our sister agency Vizeum in 2010.
Her client experience includes (but is not limited to) Disney, Diageo, Coca-Cola, MINI, BMW, Fox, Government and easyJet.
Matthew is responsible for setting the vision and plan for Carat UK, and for developing the people, product and client relationships to ensure that the delivery of market-leading business value permeates everything we do.
Matthew joined Carat as a graduate in 1996 and spent the first nine years of his career working in a range of investment roles which culminated in him joining the Aegis Trading Board and leading group level negotiations for radio. In 2005 Matthew switched his focus to communications planning and then account leadership taking responsibility for clients including Kellogg’s, General Motors, Arla Foods, Disney Parks, Santander and Debenhams as well as leading and winning a number of significant pitches.
Matt joined Carat as Chief Strategy Officer in February 2020. He is responsible for ensuring a high level of strategic thinking and thought leadership across the agency and helping all Carat clients build ideas that matter.
He joined from Engine, where he was CSO – and before that, he was CSO of WCRS, Engine’s creative agency. He has been Head of Strategy at M&C Saatchi, Chair of the APG – the not-for-profit organisation for planners and strategists- and started his career at BMP DDB
Grant started his career at Mindshare working across a variety of telecoms and financial brands. He made the move to Carat UK in 2008 and has spent the past eleven years working with brands across e-commerce, automotive, finance, retail, film, entertainment, fashion and travel at both a local and regional/global level.
Grant was promoted to the role of Client Managing Director in 2018 and is responsible for driving growth through new business and client retention.
Charlotte kicked off her career in Media around 20 years ago working across a number of sectors including (but not limited to) FMCG, telecoms, finance, retail, travel, and gaming. In 2014, she made the move from agency to Media Owner as Client Planning Director at the Guardian, followed by a business development role at the MailOnline, where she was responsible for driving revenue and strategic partnership opportunities for agencies and clients.
Joining Carat in 2018, Charlotte was appointed as Global Client Lead for the Mondelēz account, responsible for all European activity. She was promoted to the role of Client Managing Director on the account in 2019.
In addition to her client duties, Charlotte is responsible for galvanising all the European accounts so that they work as a collective from a resource and shared learnings perspective. She is also responsible for building Carat UK’s culture, providing guidance in the development and delivery of all people plans and initiatives in line with the business’ strategy.
Mark was promoted to Client Managing Director in 2019. Mark takes an overarching view of how Carat’s processes and technology work with the aim of removing friction and increasing productivity allowing more time for innovation and client leadership.
Mark has worked at Carat UK since 1998 and in that time has been responsible for operations, planning, buying and client leadership across a number of well-known brands including Microsoft, Santander, Wickes, Debenhams, Diageo, Birds Eye and Heinz.
Kim has been in the Dentsu Aegis family for 15 years. Whilst at Vizeum she lead key accounts across a variety of sectors including IKEA and 20th Century Fox. She spent 4 years at Amplifi as Chief Client Officer and Exec Sponsor of the Government business.
Kim has most recently joined Carat as Client Managing Director, and is responsible for leading the Diageo business Europe-Wide.
Jessica started her career in 2005, focused on the UK market, working across a multitude of categories including Finance, FMCG, Entertainment & Travel.
In 2013 she joined the Dentsu Aegis family as part of the Carat Regional Team in Hong Kong. There she was responsible for managing the relationships with key clients in Asia Pacific, namely Nokia & Microsoft. Subsequently, Jessica moved to New York City with iProspect to manage the Microsoft Commercial performance business Globally.
Jessica returned to the UK and Carat in September 2019 as Client Managing Director.
Ruth is responsible for all media investment delivery at Carat and leads the investment teams who’s output is key to Carat and it’s clients. Ruth is a part of the Carat Leadership team and has been part of the Dentsu network for three years, with over 18+ years of media experience.
A key responsibility of Ruth’s role is to ensure market-leading media delivery and to lead Carat in its media innovation and thought leadership.
Katie initially started her career at Carat more than seven years ago working as a Management Accountant, before moving onto other roles at various Dentsu brands including D2D, MKTG, Gyro & Vizeum.
Katie rejoined Carat UK as finance director in January 2020.
As our business has grown and the finance function changed, Katie's role has developed into a commercial role, supporting on all things finance from forecasting, commercial proposals, while also focusing on helping to drive client profitability.
Kirstie was promoted to the role of Marketing and Communications Partner in September 2019, following a 12-year stint working in the new business department of Carat UK. During that time, she was part of a team that brought in billings to the amount of £1,112M of new business and £626M of retained business.
In her new role Kirstie will be responsible for raising the profile of Carat UK, the work produced and our people among clients, prospects, and the press, while supporting our business objective of delivering growth for our client’s brands and driving measurable business performance.
Before joining Carat UK as a Comms Planner in 1998, Clare spent 18 years working both agency and client-side for the likes of Ogilvy & Mather, WWAV, Saatchi and Time Warner Enterprises in a direct marketing capacity.
She made a move to New Business in 2013, following 15 years working on clients including SCA Hygiene, Philips, Kellogg’s and Birds Eye. Now as New Business Partner, Clare thrives on the variety and fast-paced nature of her role as well as the exposure to people and capabilities across Carat and the wider Dentsu Aegis Network.
Clare is responsible for developing and implementing Carat’s prospecting and new business strategy, in addition to managing all pitch processes. Alongside the leadership team, Clare is instrumental in identifying the best talent across the agency to join our pitch teams.
