Lionsgate Utilise Facebook and Instagram to Deliver Best Practice Bespoke Content
Telling a story in less than 30 seconds can be a challenge, but a cinematic release has shown how it can be done well. To celebrate the launch of La La Land, one of this year’s biggest smash hits, bespoke content to build a buzz around the film.

The content followed the themes of the film - fashion, scenic spots in Los Angeles and, unsurprisingly, music - and each piece of creative was then targeted to the corresponding audience segment across Facebook and Instagram to drive awareness of the film. The goal was to then deliver the right content, to the right target audience, at the right time and on the right device.

This was beautifully done – don’t take our word for it, we’re just quoting Creative Review! Congratulations to the Lionsgate teams in Carat, Amplifi and iProspect who worked in concert on this project.

Facebook Launches Dedicated Virtual Reality App: Facebook 360
2017 appears to be the year that VR (virtual reality) goes mainstream. Facebook has released a dedicated app called Facebook 360.

According to an article on TechCrunch on the 8th of March, “The app will serve as a hub for the 360 video and photo content posted to the site. Facebook boasts that there have been more than one million 360 videos posted to the site alongside more than 25 million 360 photos to date. At launch, the Facebook 360 app will be available only for the Gear VR mobile headset. Users can download the app in the Oculus Store.”

Could the fact that Facebook are investing so heavily in VR mean that it is going to really become more mainstream this year? Will there be much more competitive pricing of virtual reality headsets on the high street? We think it is one to watch, and something that brands needs to be testing, or at least thinking about.

Google Home UK Release Date Is On The Horizon
An exciting product is soon to be arriving on British shores. Google Home, the rival to Amazon Echo, will be released into the UK market in June.

According to an article on Pocket-Lint on the 15th of Marc, “Home has been available in the US since October 2015 and at the time of launch, Google could only say it was "coming soon" to the UK, but no word on when it would make its way to other markets. Google subsequently confirmed the June date at Mobile World Congress.

“Google Home works in a similar way to Amazon Echo - which has been available in the UK since September 2015 - by acting as a control centre for your entire home. You can use it to control a wide range of smart home products, such as lighting and thermostats; playback music, with support for Google Cast; and ask it any number of questions with results delivered direct from Google's search engine.”

Keep your eyes peeled to see what opportunities this will offer brands.
