Rick was appointed CEO of Carat UK in April 2016. Rick joins us from Dentsu Aegis owned mcgarrybowen, where he led the business during its greatest phase of growth, winning three new clients in his first 6 months including HouseTrip and Sky Bet.
Previous to this, Rick worked at WCRS where he was Managing Partner and ran the BMW, Warburtons and Global Radio accounts. Before WCRS, Rick worked at BBH where he led the global Unilever Lynx/AXE business as well as Vodafone and Barclaycard and prior to that at Fallon on the Sony Europe business, where he made the award-winning “like.no.other” campaign.
Promoted to managing director in April 2016, Matthew is responsible for setting the vision and plan for Carat UK, and for developing the people, product and client relationships to ensure that the delivery of market-leading business value permeates everything we do.
Matthew joined Carat as a graduate in 1996 and spent the first 9 years of his career working in a range of investment roles which culminated in him joining the Aegis Trading Board and leading group level negotiations for radio. In 2005 Matthew switched his focus to communications planning and then account leadership taking responsibility for clients including Kellogg, General Motors, Arla Foods, Disney Parks, Santander and Debenhams as well as leading and winning a number of significant pitches.
Dan has worked in a variety of capacities within media over the past 17 years, starting at CIA Medianetwork in international media. He made an early digital move in 1999, working in London and New York, before moving to Havas to work in a variety of roles including Head of Digital, Data, Direct, and Strategy. He joined Carat in 2011 as head of planning and was promoted to CSO in 2014 to develop Carat UK’s product.
Alison Jones joined Carat as Chief Client Officer in November 2016. Her remit is to inspire our teams to deliver best in class leadership to ensure clients achieve their growth objectives.
An experienced senior marketer who has led top retail brands both in the UK and in Australia, Ali brings great insight to this, her first ‘agency-side’ endeavour.
Ali’s career began at Next before progressing to Debenhams where she spent over a decade, eventually departing as Marketing Director in 2010 for a group CMO role with Arcadia. She was next in management at M&S before moving to Australia in 2013 to take on a CMO/Online Director role within Woolworths Ltd., Australia’s largest retail group.
Stuart has worked within The Dentsu Aegis Network for over 16 years. He has a communication planning background, having worked on variety of retail, technology, automotive and fmcg clients. He is now responsible for all the new business and marketing output for Carat UK. Stuart is the point man for all new business opportunities, ensuring that Carat delivers outstanding and market-leading work.
Heading up a large and diverse team of data, research and insight specialists, Alison’s role is to provide an in-depth understanding of people and culture in order to develop effective marketing ecosystems. Through analysing the behaviours, attitudes, clicks and conversations found in both sampled and transactional data and drawing upon market-leading proprietary tools, the team find fresh ways to improve the performance of marketing.
Alison has over 20 years' experience within the Dentsu Aegis network and became Carat UK’s Head of I&E in 2012. She has developed numerous tools and approaches including our award-winning Consumer Connection System & PlanetKIDZ, both of which now cover the globe, as well as the group’s qualitative approaches to understanding consumers (e.g. online qual and social listening). When she’s not thinking about data & research, Alison is involved in the management of Carat and its people, particularly from a diversity and inclusion perspective as well as visioning and agenda setting as part of the Carat Future’s Board.
JP's main responsibility is to lead a team of twenty strategic planners who work across the London client base. The objective of the team is to drive the role of media upstream with their clients by championing best in class strategic planning to deliver business value. Beyond that he champions great strategic thinking amongst the wider agency and plays an active role in winning new business.
JP joined Carat UK in March 2015 as Head Of Strategic Planning. He began his media career began in 1997 and has held a number of roles on global, regional and UK clients. Prior to joining Carat he was seconded to J&J as Head Of Media for Northern Europe which gave him a unique perspective on how and where great media thinking can play a role in a client’s organisation.
Matthew has worked in marketing since 1995, moving through roles as a technologist, creative, agency founder, consultant, and strategist, joining Carat in 2012, where he leads the Strategy and Innovation team. Outside of work, he runs a number of global collaboration projects centred around storytelling, is a passionate coffee-drinker, loves discovering new magazines and learning from his two young children.
Joslyn has worked as in-house PR and marketing lead for agencies -creative, digital and now media- in London for more than 11 years. Her task within Carat UK is to help define, promote and protect the brand by leading on press relations, internal comms, marketing and awards. Joslyn read journalism before completing a master's degree in public relations and is a committee member of the Digital Advertising Women's Network.
Vanessa joined Carat in October 2013 having previously worked in employer branding organisations. Vanessa takes a great interest in driving employee engagement and as a member of the People team, the focus is increasingly on attracting amazing people from all backgrounds that will continue to ensure that Carat UK is the place to be for talent development, career advancement, whilst still having fun along the way.
