I joined Carat Newcastle in August 2015, returning to the North East after 10 years in London.

My career started at Robson Brown in Newcastle after graduating from Northumbria University and I then decided to move south to progress my career. In my ten years at MediaCom I worked in a number of roles starting in the regional team planning and buying across the agency’s regional business before becoming account director in the retail team, working with some of UK's largest retailers.

Away from work I spend my time running around after my young son and also enjoy keeping fit in more traditional ways too! I’m in to a wide range of music and keep an eye on how badly Leeds United are performing.

I act as the client’s primary point of contact within the agency, working alongside them to ensure the provision of detailed briefs, develop strategy, ensure smooth campaign implementation and generally facilitate two-way communication to help deliver against their targets.

Being part of a global network with such close collaboration between the individual agency brands ensures all work is the product of multiple experts who are best placed to address challenges and makes sure you never stop learning.

I always try to imagine it’s your own business when making any key decisions, clients know when you understand their challenges and truly care. My proudest moments in the office are immediately following an announcement that you’ve won any large New Business Pitch you’ve been involved in.

How do you like to spend your time out of the office?

Being in a primarily office-based job I like to get out running, ideally on trails, to unwind and counter all the agency excesses!

New Business Development Manager

My role is to raise the profile of Dentsu Aegis across the North East, and to drive new business for our brands iProspect and Carat.  Dentsu Aegis Network is a real stand out in the North East, there aren’t many companies of the same size and scale who give you access to the opportunities that DAN do.

I’m really lucky in my role as Business Development Manager, working for Dentsu Aegis rather than one specific brand. This actually means I get to work with all of the brands we offer, covering the full spectrum of media, advertising and marketing capabilities. A really exciting place to be!

I studied Journalism at University, and then started out my career in telecommunications and IT. After 8 years I was lucky enough to land my role with Dentsu Aegis Network, doing new business for the sector I love, media and digital.

My proudest career moment so far is that in 2018 I was nominated in the Business Development 100, a list of the top business developers across the UK working in media, advertising and marketing.

How do you like to spend your time out of the office?

I absolutely love live music and can often be found at a gig or festival. My taste in music is fairly eclectic and varied. I can often be found listening to anything from Indie/Folk through to Electric/Trance!

I support and manage planning and handle of a number accounts for Carat Newcastle. I work closely with my clients and Dentsu Aegis Network teams to ensure campaigns are effective and run smoothly.

I enjoy how varied my role is, as no day is the same; especially as we work with talented people, who are specialists in their field, on client projects that are interesting and challenging. Before joining Carat, I started as an intern for a local commercial radio station as a radio planner and general lackey.

What’s the best piece of career advice you’ve ever been given?

My Dad told me to be nice to everyone - it’s harder for people to say no to you

How do you like to spend your time out of the office?

Away from the office I like to spend my time with my pug, Cher. I’m lucky to live close to the coast so you’ll often find us on the beach!

Client Services Executive

At Carat, I liaise with all the different channels/clients which translates to lots of numbers, acronyms and spreadsheets; I enjoy getting an in-depth view of how all the different media channels work and link together. I enjoy working with the different people at Dentsu Aegis Network; but also the chance to learn more about different channels from industry experts.

My first proper career experience was doing work experience at a Darlington Radio Station (Star Radio) while at University. Whilst with Carat, I want to broaden my experience with traditional media like Radio and Print as well as gaining hands on experience with Social Channel.

If you could invite any three guests, from any time in history, to dinner, who would it be and why?

Roy Keane because he’d have an opinion on anything, Quentin Tarantino because I love his films and Stephen King because his books are amazing!

Media Executive

As a Media Executive I support the Client Services team by assisting with the development of digital, print, out of home and AV campaigns. I report on digital/ Facebook campaigns weekly, monitoring the activity to make sure we hit forecast delivery, and I answer any questions the client may have. I also investigate into consumer insight reports and competitor reports for various clients.

I love working proactively with many different clients, so this role is engaging and never without a dull moment. Plus I enjoy working with such a dynamic group of people for a forward thinking company like Dentsu Aegis Network.

I started out graduating from Northumbria University with a degree in Advertising; with work experience in Creative Campaign development and Marketing. I then applied for the Client Services graduate scheme with Carat Newcastle. I would like to soon become an Executive and handle more responsibility within the business, I am focusing on broadening my knowledge and experience within all areas of online and offline media to become a well-rounded member of the team.

How do you like to spend your time out of the office?

As a keen runner I often spend my free time jogging along the Gateshead Quayside or through the woods - to put those calories back on, I can be found at the local Staiths café enjoying a wine (or two!) with some friends. I never say no to a gig, and love to travel to festivals in the Summer.

My role in Carat consists of supporting the client services team by collating weekly reports, ensuring the campaigns are running well and regularly liaising with our clients to ensure we are optimising campaigns to meet their needs.

Working for Carat Newcastle really feels like you’re a part of a family. The variety of clients in Carat means there is always something different to be working on and the fast-paced nature of the industry means there are always innovative new ways of reaching audiences. The company gives you more than just a job, it gives you a career path and purpose and really acknowledges and values your daily contributions towards the company’s success.

I joined Carat in October 2018 as a Graduate after completing a Masters degree in Communication and Media from The University of Leeds. My role is never static. There is always a new technology or platform which can be utilised towards our campaigns and to get the best results for our clients. Watching the results of new technologies first-hand is exciting.

I’m really glad I could land my first ‘proper’ job after university in such a well-established and successful company, with the knowledge that I’m starting my career amongst some of the very best in the industry. Eventually, I’d love to be a Senior Account Executive as part of Carat Newcastle.

How do you like to spend your time out of the office?

I spend my time out the office walking my puppy, Ferris and catching up with family and friends over some good food and a few drinks.
