I'm a keen innovator who has led many initiatives that fueled clients' business growth. Combine that with my penchant for success, agility to challenge convention and my business acumen, in October 2016, I took up the opportunity to lead Carat Malaysia, overseeing its overall operations and driving strategic planning and management for the agency.
Prior to Carat, I was the Head of Integration at Astro, and before Astro, I had spent 11 years in GroupM Malaysia where I took on several senior roles, with my last within the group as the Managing Director of Maxus Malaysia. I've also worked for Starcom Mediavest, leading the Proctor & Gamble agency of record business.
Our industry moves so rapidly - it is said that the pace of change for our industry and for our clients' industries over the next five years will be faster than the change over the last fifteen. The change is the result of the digital economy, which will drive convergence at scale. So having been on both media owner and agency side, the convergent skillset that I've built over the years has become so relevant today. For that reason, I'm always advocating for my people to learn new skills, wear multiple hats and above all, collaborate - through collaboration, we deliver better, integrated outcomes together whilst learning from each other.
My passion in people and developing talents has led me to taking up the role of Dean of DAN Academy, Dentsu Aegis Network's facility for professional and personal learning. I wish to inspire people with my passion, leadership and experience, and at the same time, learn a tip or two from the younger generation!
Getting myself busy in the kitchen, cooking up a feast and running marathons are my stress busters.
I took up my current role of Deputy General Manager in June 2016, after spending two years as a Business Director at Carat Malaysia, during which I’ve gained invaluable and eye-opening experiences through our collaboration with leading brands such as Mondelez International, MasterCard, Philips and 20th Century Fox, especially in today’s convergent world.
Prior to joining Carat Malaysia, I was in my home country, India – a market which is so very complex yet considerably evolved, and it was here that I earned 12 constructive years of experience in account management and media planning & buying. These days, I find it rather exciting to be able to fuse best traditional media practice of India with best digital practice of Malaysia.
I look forward to continuously creating more innovative solutions for our clients. But when I’m not hard at work, you can find me playing Texas Hold‘em with friends (and winning all their bets).
I’ve been told that I’m good at shaping highly effective marketing communications, but in all honesty, I’d like to believe that I’m a brand strategist at heart. My passion (and therefore my forte) lies in conceptualising and curating meaning for brands through the study of cultural, social, commercial and technological changes in the consumer and business landscape.
Prior to Carat Malaysia, I cut my teeth in creative strategy planning at FCB Kuala Lumpur and McCann Singapore working on the likes of Mastercard, Intel, Celcom Xpax, CIMB, Chipsmore, PIDM, Wipro Unza, KFC and OCBC Bank.
As a true student life, I’m very much interested in how consumers, brands and culture intersect and evolve in the constantly connected world.
