Just keep running...
That’s what I kept saying to myself (repeatedly) as I was hurdling around the 10k circuit in Manchester. Earphones in. Dance music on.
Prior to signing up to the event, I was tasked with getting as many people as possible from our Leeds office to take part. I soon learnt, it is always best to practice what you preach. Which meant that was it, four weeks to go and I had signed up to my first ever 10k race. Training kicked in and I was as ready as I was ever going to be.
On Sunday 22nd May, myself and 12 other Dentsu Aegis Leeds colleagues took to the streets of Manchester and took part in the Great Manchester Run, to raise money for St George’s Crypt, a charity helping the homeless, the vulnerable and those suffering from addiction in Leeds. Tasked with raising £100 each, we ran 10k together as part of the Dentsu Aegis North army, with over 200 of us from across our Northern offices, all running to help the homeless across Leeds and Manchester.
What was the result?
We raised over £1,500 including gift aid!
Despite the wind and the torrential rain (in true Manchester style), we did it! All 13 of us finished the race in fantastic times. Our fastest runner did it in just over 40 minutes (although I’m not even sure how that is humanly possible!) Although, what I do know is that we have raised a lot of money that will help those most in need and that’s the most important thing.
