At Carat, we believe that taking our social and environmental responsibility seriously will help us redefine media. This is because in today’s world our clients, our people and consumers alike are motivated by concerns beyond a narrow economic one.

The vision for our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, Future Proof, is to not only become a more responsible business, but also to inspire positive action by everyone we come into contact with and together redefine the value of media. Future Proof means doing the right thing in our day-today business. We have the scope and reach to make a positive impact on society using the power of advertising.

We understand the role we can play in supporting the wider community.  Carat, Edinburgh are actively supporting the education sector through; 

  • guest lecturing across Scottish Universities
  • career guidance and mock interviews for 5th and 6th form pupils
  • short internship programme for children aged 16-18 from local schools
  • graduate trainee programme that is currently sponsoring 6 graduates from local education into full integration within the business 

We encourage and promote the benefits of volunteering to support the wider community.  Over 15% of our Edinburgh team are currently engaged in voluntary activities ranging from working in the café at St Columbus hospice, evening call handling at Edinburgh Samaritans and National Chair of Crimestoppers Scotland.   

We support and actively participate in numerous charities event both in, and out of office including: cake bakes, Christmas Jumper Day, Marathons and Movember.

In 2012 we achieved ISO 14001. We continually review our behaviours and a committee member recently calculated that by switching off our monitors when we leave our desks at night will save 4,950kg less of CO2 emissions.
