Carat Promotes Eric Weng to Chief Technology Officer and Head of Ecommerce

In his new role, Weng will oversee both technology strategy and day-to-day management in addition to a broad remit across technology, innovation and data agenda in Carat. This includes ecommerce client-focused tech solutions, technology platforms as well as Carat data assets and capabilities.

As Managing Director for Client Solutions, Weng has been instrumental in developing products like CAPPER which allows advertisers to automate and optimise programmatic direct buying across OTV platforms – reducing wastage and increasing precise targeting.

 

Including an expanded remit to lead Carat’s strong ecommerce team, Weng said; "marketing technology in China is an increasingly critical element in the overall marketing mix.  The right tools and strategy has a tangible impact on our client’s success, I’m excited to take this opportunity to deliver more projects that ensure Carat’s clients advertising is seen by the right people, with the right message and at the right time”.

Eric recently has been appointed by the China branch of the world-leading Mobile Marketing Association (MMA) as Deputy Chair of Mobile Advertising Guideline Committee - Measurement & Ad standard in the MMA China's 2017-2018 membership meeting and board management team election held in Shanghai. He will guide and support the development of Mobile Advertising Guideline Committee in the Measurement & Ad standard area for building a healthy mobile marketing environment.

 

Since joining Carat China in 2014, Weng has led the development of digital product-based solutions with key projects including marketing automation systems that have led to 0% reporting errors as well as an ecommerce data management and analysis platform which integrates data from the various ecommerce partners.

 

Weng began his career as a software engineer building TV rating products in ACNielsen and then worked across ZenithOptimedia, Omnicom Media Group, Wunderman to actively participate in solving operation, automation and digital marketing challenges.
