With over 14 years experience at media agencies in both the UK and Australia, I have been fortunate to operate across numerous categories and agency functions. Having worked with category leaders in FMCG, Finance, Auto, Gambling, Insurance and Entertainment, my experience has given me the opportunity to understand how communications can influence a consumer and drive a business forward.
With a passion for collaboration, pushing the boundaries of media and a focus on the consumer, my career has led me from an implementation and client management function to a strategic thinker. I am currently the Chief Strategy Officer for Carat Australia.
As an Englishman living in Australia, I have immersed myself in the ways of a Melbournian by adopting an AFL team and to my surprise am thoroughly enjoying the sport. With a beautiful wife Emma and three young boys, Alfie, Jude and Bobby, parenthood is proving to be both the most challenging and rewarding thing we have ever done!
I have been working in digital media for over 10 years and like to think of myself as a digital native even though I was born in 1980! My experience commenced client side at Mercedes-benz where I was managing their website content and online enquiries. After a year there I wanted to explore more broadly digital as a media driver and so I joined Mediacom.
Over my 6 years at Mediacom I worked across FMCG, Retail, Insurance, and Alcohol & Beverage in the Melbourne office before transferring to the NYC office for 18 months. Whilst in NYC I worked on the Hasbro account before moving into a BDM role where I developed a new content division that was launched only 2 months after I left. I joined Carat on my return from NYC as the Head of Digital in Melbourne.
Now in my role as Chief Digital Officer I drive the digital agenda across offices and more specifically work with our technology partners, Global Media Partners & Digital agencies to bring our clients the latest and greatest in the world of digital!
I started my media agency career in the UK 12 years ago and for the past 7 years have been in Australia, first with GroupM and now as part of the Aegis group with Carat. I joined Carat as Head of Investment to deliver the best results for our clients. My passion has always been investment and over the course of my career I have been able to work across all categories and clients, including Automotive, Government, Entertainment, Finance and Retail. My focus within investment has been trading, implementation planning and also strategic partnerships, activation and brand integration. The current marketplace is moving at unprecedented pace of change and I enjoy making sense of that change for clients and embracing new solutions for their media.
Outside of work I enjoy getting outdoors cycling, hiking and running to balance out my equal passion for food and travel. As a Englishman, I still follow the EPL and Manchester United who are my team.
I have been living and breathing the world of media, marketing and advertising since learning the ropes from University life (RMIT – Business Advertising).
With over 17 years embracing all corners of the industry including media management, brand development, sponsorship activation, business strategy, people management and even a taste of media sales (as Group Sales Manager at the SevenWest Media Group), I now channel all of this experience spearheading the Carat Melbourne office as Managing Director.
Outside of work, I very much enjoy all sports, travelling with the family, learning new things and engaging in new life experiences, food and wine... and when finally putting the feet up after a hard day’s work, watching more sport!
I have spent close to 20 years working for media agencies in both the UK and Australia. I started my career at OMD UK and subsequently spent the last 11 years in Australia working for Mindshare and OMD Australia before moving to Carat as Managing Director of our Sydney office in October 2014.
My experience spans the core disciplines of trading, planning and strategy and categories from FMCG to Finance. I am a people focused practitioner who has driven results through effective team management.
I love spending time with my wife and three children and try to set myself a fitness goal each year, completing a Half Ironman this year.
My 20 year career spans agency roles, in Sydney and Brisbane. I have worked in agencies including Merchants, ZenithOptimedia and now Carat Brisbane as the Managing Director.
I have worked with nimble, challenger brands including Virgin Blue and Virgin Mobile and honed my strategic skills on large FMCG accounts such as Nestle. Each role provided different experiences and learning, all serving to strengthen my passion for the ever changing nature of our industry.
I thrive on the knowledge that every day is different and offers up an opportunity to learn something new.
Outside of work, my time is spent with my son and family. Living by Bramble Bay in Brisbane offers so many choices and weekends are filled with bike riding, walking the dogs or simply enjoying being by the water.
I originate from the UK and have worked in the industry for over 20 years.

As a member of the team who launched Carat in Melbourne back in 2001, I have over 15 years’ experience in media and communications. In that time I have worked with market leading brands in categories including FMCG, Automotive, Retail and Entertainment.
In my current role of General Manager of Carat Melbourne, I am responsible for attracting, retaining and developing the best talent in the market. We understand the value our people can bring to our client’s business and the importance of keeping them motivated, inspired and happy in their jobs.
At home, I enjoy looking after my 3 young children spending weekends at swimming lessons, birthday parties and at the park. I love to cook, watch great films and read gossip magazines (when I get the time!).
People and brands are my obsession. Over the course of my career, I have been lucky enough to work with some of the greatest brands in Australia, across great agencies being mentored by industry icons. My career evolved from school breaks spent at McCann Erickson to a being a Strategist at George Patterson Bates, to a Group Account Director at Zenith on Optus Communications. I then returned to Strategy in the roles of Head of Strategy on Proctor & Gamble at Mediacom and then Strategy Lead at Initiative across clients such as Sanitarium, Fairfax, and Hyundai. For the last 5 years I have been at Carat first as Sydney Strategy Lead and currently as Head of Insights – a role that fulfils my love of people, brands and connecting our clients to them.
Outside of work my love of people is dominated by three little people under 10 and life is a constant journey of surprise and delight, fairies and pirates, dancing and swimming lessons and homework! My personal passions include writing, cooking, and psychology. I am currently completing a bachelor of Psychology and also studying Innovative Consumer Research Techniques.
