Managing Director of Carat Cape Town since September 2016, Lerina is responsible for driving the vision and plan for Carat, and for developing the people, product and client relationships to ensure the delivery of market-leading business value.
Lerina started her career at creative agency TBWA as a media planner in 2002, followed by a 4 year tenure at BBDO where she moved her way up from Planner to Media Director.
She joined Carat as Head of Strategy in 2007 and has been instrumental in the growth and success of the company, with a strong focus on driving strategy behind new business pitches and account leadership on key clients such as J&J, Mondelez and Woolworths.
In 2012 Lerina stepped into the role of Media Director, taking overall responsibility for quality output of the team in Cape Town, and most recently has taken over the leadership of the team in her role as Managing Director.
Celia started her career off in the Financial/Off shore Investment/Treasury & Trade Finance and had her own business completing Companies books for them in the evening.
In 1997 Celia joined one of her bookkeeping clients and they formed a company called the African Extension, which researched and booked media across Africa. She held the position of General Manager from 2000-2003 and handled clients such as Tiger Brands, South African Breweries and L’Oreal.
In 2003 Celia joined Starcom as Media Manager Africa to start a “Best of Breed” network on behalf of Starcom. In 2005 her commitment and passion for Africa was recognized and was elected to the PAMRO Harmonization committee which she is still a part of today. In December 2005 Celia was appointed to the Board of Directors in Starcom.
In August 2007 Celia was given PAMRO achiever of the year award for continued support and continuous driving of research into Africa. Celia has created a network of 37 offices which Starcom works with and has travelled to 26 different countries on the African continent
At the beginning of 2008 Celia took on the Head of Buying for Starcom to challenge herself and push her knowledge to greater heights. In 2012 Celia was made Deputy Managing Director of Starcom MediaVest Group.
Celia decided in 2014 to expand her horizon’s further and joined the Carat Group as Business Director and within a few short months she was promoted to Managing Director.
Graham began his career at Condenast Independent Magazines in South Africa. He then moved abroad for three years from where he began to form an adapted cross-platform approach to communications.
Once he returned to South Africa, he joined the award winning creative digital agency, Isobar. He was tasked with running a number of key accounts with a significant focus in East Africa. This background enabled him to move seamlessly into Carat in a strategic role designed to enhance Carat’s strategic and digital capabilities throughout the region.
He currently works with core teams across all accounts to ensure consistency and structured strategic and creative delivery.
His responsibility also includes the creation and implementation of Pan-African strategy for key clients from our SSA Hub based in South Africa.
