Carat's Wellness Month

16/06/2016

After three years of organising our highly successful ‘Wellness Weeks’, in February we decided it was time to deliver our first ever ‘Wellness Month,’ a month-long series of more than 50 different free activities and lectures for all Carat employees.

February’s programming included everything from the expected (reflexology, yoga, Pilates, meditation, coached runs, an agency-wide table tennis competition, Reclaim Your Lunch Break sessions) to the not so expected (rave-ercise, trapeze lessons, pole dancing, floristry lessons, a walking map to nearby art galleries and public spaces, cooking classes and a range of lectures covering creativity, leadership and even flirting). We also brokered the loan of a Sleep Pod from beauty and wellbeing brand This Works for the month. To learn more, check out our blog post from back in February.

As you can imagine, a lot of work went in to organising Wellness Month - and it paid off. The events were incredibly well-attended, and we got some great feedback from our people.

“You did an extraordinary job organising all this,” said Joslyn Tinker.“I hope you realise how very many people appreciated it.  I certainly did.”Our then Managing Director, Matthew Hook, also had some kind words to say, “The success of our business depends on creating an environment where brilliantly talented people fully realise their potential, and no-one can do that unless they feel at their best, both emotionally and physically”.

Wellness Month was also written about in the press, including coverage in Campaign and Employee Benefits.

After this success, Wellness Month is ‘going global.’ Carat Dubai are in the process of organising their own Wellness Month and Carat Austria aren't far behind. Beyond Carat, sister Dentsu Aegis company Isobar is in the middle of running their version of Wellness Month and just this week I met with ITV to help advise them as they’d like to offer a similar initiative for their employees.

We’re very proud of what we’ve achieved with Wellness Month so far. Now it’s time to start planning the next one...
